Are Pocket Beagles Extinct?

The short answer is no. Let me expand on that... The first recorded Olde English Pocket Beagles originated in England dating as far back as the 1500's, however that particular bloodline died out. Here in North America we have been successfully working to restore the breed for a few decades. AKC doesn't recognize a pocket beagle, they simply catagorize the dog as a "standard 13 inch" and under". This is the reason they have thier own registry, so that we can differentiate the 11" (pockets) from the 13" & 15" (standard) varieties.
