How big does a pocket beagle get when fully grown?

I get this question all the time. So first lets talk about weight vs height. Dogs are measured by their height at the withers (shoulder blades). An Olde English Pocket Beagle will average 11" tall, as opposed to the standard who is measured in two catagories (per the AKC), 13" and 15". If you know anything about bealges, you know they LOVE to eat. A beagle can become overweight if their diet and exercise is not monitored, but their height remains unchanged. This is why we don't measure by weight. The 11" height can (and will) vary a little, but should stay close to that. An average weight of an 11" pocket beagle should be expected somewhere close to 12-16lbs. There is obviously going to be a range in weight as well, but this is a good idea of what you can expect a fully grown Olde English Pocket Beagle to weigh. While we are talking about this, it's important to point out that even the most seasoned breeder cannot guarantee what the size of a pup will be when it's fully grown. We can absoutely give you an educated guess, especially if we have raised their parents and grandparents. However, if a guarantee is in place for size, thats a red flag. You need to talk to the breeder and ask lots of questions to determine if you feel like they are knowledgeable enough and have adequate experience before doing any business with them.
